Acne is a common health condition that predominantly affects the skin, and skin with sebaceous (fat excreting) follicles. For treatments of very severe forms of acne, the drug Accutane can play a major role. It aids the acne treatment by permanently reducing the skins production of oil, and reduces and shrinks the skins oil producing glands. However it as some side effects and is only used when all other treatments have been exhausted. It is a derivative of vitamin A, and is only applied for between 15-20 week periods
