Have Acne No More: How to Get Clear Skin With a Simple Game Plan

The way to get clear skin, so the television and magazine advertisements tell us, is to use the latest brand of topical treatment. If you do, so the claims go, you will have acne no more in time for your date tonight. If only life was like that, but it is not.

The causes of your acne

The root cause of your outbreaks is a hormonal imbalance inside your body that leads to a buildup of toxins, which are eliminated through your skin. It is that hormonal imbalance that stimulates the sebaceous glands in your skin to produce more oil. We are constantly shedding dead skin cells and it is normal for some of these to block the pores in our skin. When this happens in a pore with excess oil from your sebaceous glands, bacteria that live on your skin can interact with the toxins to cause inflammation and an acne outbreak.

You need a game plan if you want to rid yourself of acne for good.

The game plan

There are three parts to this simple game plan which act in combination:

#1. Tackle the cause of your hormonal imbalance.

If you do not do this, you will not get rid of your acne, but, instead, could end up spending a lot of money on treatments that do not work. Tackling your hormonal imbalance requires you to pay attention to and where necessary, modify your lifestyle.

Move to healthy balanced diet that is low in fat and sodium and moderate in sugar; and contains at least five different fruits and vegetables a day.
Cut out or substantially reduce your consumption of processed foods and sodas with high sugar content. A burger, fries and soda should become a treat, not an everyday food item.
Reduce your consumption of dairy products, especially cows' milk which contains bovine hormones. These are ideal for growing calves, but not for humans. These bovine hormones are thought to contribute to you hormonal imbalance.
Drink about 2 litres of water a day. This will keep your body, including your skin, properly hydrated. It will also help your body eliminate more of the toxins created by the hormonal imbalance through your kidneys than through your skin.
Become more physically active with an outdoor activity - take some regular exercise such as cycling or even walking the dog twice a day.
Try to get six to eight hours quality sleep each night.

If you follow this advice alone, you should see a great improvement in your skin in just a week

#2. Personal hygiene

Personal hygiene is important in the management of your condition. To help prevent dead skin cells blocking the pores on your skin, use a gentle exfoliating face wash that is suitable for your skin type.

#3. Use a topical treatment on outbreaks

Some outbreaks are inevitable especially in the early days of this plan. There is no harm in using a topical acne treatment to dry up and reduce the blemish, but this is only cosmetic as these treatments do not tackle the root cause of your condition.

Patience is the winner's virtue. Stick to the game plan. It takes time to establish healthy eating habits and to make lifestyle improvements. All the while you are persevering with the game plan your body is naturally rebalancing your hormones and reducing the toxins that can cause an outbreak. All of which results in clear skin and you having acne no more.
